resolution of my black screen issue:
for any help it will give:
it was my monitor.
the highest resolution was 1680 x 1050.
I plugged in my samsung LED TV and it fired right up.
since it was a tv I noticed a few things:
1) refresh rate kept going from 60hz to 70hz thru the post and switching of screens b4 windows log on screen. (samsung display shows this info along with resolution in top left corner on all tv's) this may be why my monitor was failing since it's max was only 60hz. I don't know why the HD4000 kept switching to 70 hz but If I had to guess....that would be the issue. monitor got confused.???
2) the monitor I had was older.... but imho....this should be backward comp.
