I believe the USBtoSerial sketch is locking your USB client port causing the upload sketch to fail. Have you consider accessing Linux with a different method? Connecting your Galileo to your home router via WI-FI or Ethernet, then connecting using the IP address. Can you provide the sketch USBtoSerial you are using so i can confirm whats causing the incomplete message.
