Hi,

I bought first the Intel NUC DN2830FYKH and I ran it headless with Windows 8.1 Pro x64 and Ubuntu Desktop 14.10 x64 I think TeamViewer was running fine. This was in November2014. But I wasn't really satisfied with the performance of it for my needs as for NVR 2+ h264 cameras decoding and stuff.. So I bought the i5 version the D54250WYKH (HD5000 and QuickSync). I set everything up = Win8.1 x64 ,NVRs ... then I went ahead to test the remote connection via TeamViewer and got only black screen with moving cursor. So I discover by myself that it works only with the display attached. So I googled and found this thread. But my greatest disappointment is that this issue is still there after a pretty long time.

I  uninstalled the security updates suggested -  IT DID NOT WORK

I found this HDMI dummy plug on ebay for my european fellows. I am gonna order I think ,which means +20€ expense .... I am not happy about it to be honest.

HDMI dummy plug, DDC EDID emulator, fake display, headless. R9 290 290X, DVI-D | eBay

My problem with the VGA dummy plug is the size of the whole thing. 1. you need micro-HDMI-to-HDMI  2. HDMI-to-VGA (really?) and the dummy plug. A bit of pressure on the thing and you can crack or brake the micro-HDMI port. I think that the HDMI dummy sounds better and more safe for the connector.

edit: connected via ethernet only
