Thanks, that's good information. It tells us that the BIOS support for USB 3.0 isn't in the picture - though we can't necessarily rule out a general USB problem yet.
We just connected three USB-based HDDs to a D54250WYK (which uses the same BIOS as the D3010WYK) and fired it up. It (still) successfully booted from the MSATA drive without intervention. This could mean that the issue is compatibility with the specific USB interface offered by your drives (the drives we used were all from different manufacturers (none Packard Bell) and not all were USB 3.0 compliant)...
Just in case, what else can you tell us about your setup? How are these drives formatted - FAT32? NTFS? Something else? Have any been formatted to be bootable?
